»How to Kill Boredom Experiment
In the spirit of Obk's freeword association posts, we've decided that the hot South Carolina summer days are too precious to be completely wasted by our peeps coming to this blog and not reading anything new. Since nothing we post here is worth anything to anyone else anyway, that part won't matter much.
This part might.
See, as stupid as we often act around here <everyone concurrs> we just wanted to let you know that we do this because we are in the process of conducting a lifelong experiement on how to eliminate boredom. Boredom is our mortal enemy. Sith Wars are just the means to an end. Which and whose end is up for debate.
SO...what we're gonna try is this: We're gonna try Blogger's comment section on this blog. Every so often, we're gonna post something (like 3 objects, 1 action, a situation, and a problem) to see what you come up with. There are no right or wrong answers and no one's gonna grade any of this. It's just meant to be silly, smart, and fun all at the same time. Use real world, use make-believe world, use movieland, it doesn't matter. Just be creative. No clue as to how often we'll try this, but we'd like to start now cuz we're on the verge of boredom so the opportunity is perfect!
Experiment #1: Hot Roddish has hidden a block of chedder in the topmost shelf of a kitchen cabinet, and the door is closed. It is now 2 am, 4 days later, and Hamillpuff is hungry. Since Jigglypuffs don't have opposable thumbs, and he's under strict orders not to wake anyone up at this hour, how would Hamillpuff get it down if he only had a remote control, a 24 inch USB cable, a wrench, and super bouncy ball? Any ideas?

»"Jump This Way"
I'm sure you've noticed and my be wondering what that phrase is doing in the banner here. Funny thing but relevant (which is why it's funny): when I started making headway in putting together the first incarnation of the banner, "Walk This Way" by Run-DMC and Aerosmith came on.
Please tell me you caught that all by yourself.
You didn't? Drats. Okay here we go:
The DeLorean is made by DMC and Run-DMC is the rap duo who helped push rap into the legitimate mainstream by doing the duet/remake with Aerosmith. I named Alice's DeLo at the last minute and this was what I came up with. Later on I figured that in Alice's life and history, she's a conglomeration of different things: some new and some remade. Well, that's what this version of WTW is: the rap is new and the song is a remake. Just seemed very appropriate. (*)
I'd actually thought of JTW as being a tagline for the crew awhile back but forgot about it until tonight when the song came on and so I just put it in the banner on a whim. I guess it's staying now> :-)
"JUMP THIS WAY!"
(*)Besides, in order to travel between dimensions you have to "jump" rather than "walk". So the 'Jump' and 'DMC' aspects are both broad and specific since the Jump-DMC isn't the only DeLo in the fleet.
Well, bannered. :-) Got our banner today- FINALLY! Also wrote and posted a sort of prologue to the whole DJS thing. Came in a spurt when I was half-asleep today. Took about an hour to finally get to the computer...anyway, here they are!

»Beginnings: Cages and Men
She always knew that they were bad men. How she knew or when she figured it out she couldn't tell, but she could tell they were bad by the things they did. She knew the things they did were bad because she could feel the negative effects in ways these men probably never could.
Ever since she was old enough to crawl, she'd been fascinated by these "pocket monsters" that pawed, mewed, and cried out to her. She spent most of her days around their cages. Watching them, listening to them, and petting them from outside their cages. She observed them from a quiet and earnest position and learned their different mannerisms if not their natural behavior in the wild, for she was never allowed to leave the compound that was on the edge of the forest surrounding Mt. Moon except for those times when she was actually needed if not wanted. She didn't mind the solitude as long as there was a Pokemon or some other sort of critter around. She'd keep as close to all of the Pokemon as possible: she put her plate on the floor so she could eat with them, moved her sleeping bag to the informal infirmary section when one Pokemon was taking a turn for the worse (and even do her best to cure them), and even let them out of their cages for a couple minutes when no one was looking.
But back to these men for a minute.
These men stole or captured Pokemon, put them into cages, and then either sold or trained them to do things they would not ordinarily do. Some trained them to fight in highly agressive ways for money, some sold them to rich people who wanted rare and ususual pets, and some fed them until they were overweight enough to be sold...and were never heard from again. Each cage was specially designed to house and contain the Pokemon to each of their types with sometimes disasterous results. Many a Pokemon died while wasting away at a cage bar.
The adage that 'the ability to speak does not make one intelligent' was certainly credible because if these talkative types were intelligent, they would know how the Pokemon suffered so, would set them loose, and never cage another Pokemon ever again.
She knew of their sufferings well as she too knew what it was like to be caged up and auctioned off to the highest bidder. Whenever she got into trouble for some inexplicable reason, she would get locked in the storage room for up to a week at a time, and when it was time to be useful, a man would come for her and she would pose as his daughter as to not raise suspiscion against the "trader". But don't worry, she wasn't prostituted. In fact, they neglected her as much as possible because none of them wanted to be responsible for an orphaned child.
Cages. She didn't know why exactly each specific Pokemon was caged up, but she knew that her own highest crimes were that of curiosity, a curiosity that often got the best of her, and for that, she was called "Alice". She didn't know if it was her real name or not, but she knew that her name was Alice. She didn't know what her last name was and as far as the traders were concerned, she didn't have one because it changed each time a trader came to use her as a prop. But she knew she had one, just like she knew she had parents. Real ones. Not these men who would come up to her, say that he was her father, and then take her to help him go sell a hapless Pokemon.
These men were not her parents, but these Pokemon were her family.
Like her so-called "fathers", the Pokemon that consisted of her family were constantly changing. They were always getting sold or "traded" off, sometimes they died, and rarely they escaped. They would suffer in their cages in their own ways and try unsuccessfully to escape all day and often all night as well. They were constantly moving and the only times they ever did rest were either from exhaustion or death. But there was one thing all of them did: communicate. They communicated with each other and with their captors all the time, but unlike their bretheren critters, their captors never paid them any attention unless heaven forbid one of them tried to attack, escape, or resist in any way.
But they also communicated with Alice. Her natural curiosity had a highly-focused intensity to it. As a result, she was very tenacious, and even tho she may have several projects going at once, she managed to finish them all even if it did take a good long time. Like the Pokemon she studied and befriended, Alice was blessed with several good instincts and was said to be able to understand the Pokemon in their own languages. Often she would Ponyta-whisper when she was allowed near the outside stables or mew along with the Meowth and Persians that would occupy one of the inner meetingrooms.
She learned to understand the languages of the Pokemon before she finally decided to start speaking in her own. Most of the "traders" (in fact they were a range of smugglers, illegal breeders, poachers, and middlemen for more immoral trades) took her for a savant for the first 4 years of her life until one day she suddenly spoke her first word "no" when one breeder came to take her favorite Squirtle away.
It was these cages and these men! They were the bane of her existence just as sure as she was the bane of theirs. After the incident with the Squirtle, she began to use her first word at every opportunity she could find: a captor shaking up a cage, a trader buying a desperate Pokemon, an abusive trainer, a smuggler trying to fit too many cages into the back of an unmarked van. For about 3 months, she was in that storeroom more often than she was with the Pokemon. And they both suffered for it. Alice began to speak more in her own language and for that some of the Pokemon felt that she was betraying them by turning from the strangest but kindest Pokemon they'd ever known into one of these "humans". Making the distinctions between "Pokemon", "good human", and "bad human" were concepts that Alice had to teach them so that they wouldn't lose the only true friendships the other had in their lives at that time.
It wasn't easy on any of them as Alice's knacks for stealing food for the Pokemon and her screaming at the men to stop doing something because "the Pokemon said it's hurting them" were fast becoming dangerous.
An old Hoothoot had to tell her to stop it or else those men would likely use her as an interpreter and goodness knows what kinds of things they could do with her to lure naive Pokemon or what sort of information from other Pokemon they would try to drag out of her. Word spead throughout the cages that they should stop talking to Alice because she could now talk to their common captors. Some of them even stopped accepting her stolen food. Even when Alice told her "fathers" that she was making it all up because after all she had a "highly active imagination", it didn't stop the suspicions from either the Pokemon or the humans.
Those men were fast catching onto her and that what she'd been doing all of her life could be highly beneficial to them. And if she didn't catch onto her own reckless 5-year-old mouth, her whole world as well as those of who she loved most would soon crash down and dissolve.
But something was soon to happen that would change everything.

»Sailor Credentials?
Usually when being assigned a mission at DJS, they just dump it on Alice and tell her to go (to which she is always reluctant and defiant, as are are some of the Pokémon as well). One day, after about 2 very long years with them, she was asked to submit a form that was basically part bio and part declaration in order to be approved for her next assignment with a very particular group.
Here's what she wrote as dictated by the guidelines at the time:
I do not know how I came to be, but I do know that I was raised by a group of smugglers on the PokéPlanet. They smuggled Pokémon and supposedly had ties to Team Rocket. As a toddler I would play with the stolen Pokémon and watch how seedy business was done. While I learned from other's mistakes, I was not corrupted if I repeated them. Before I was 15, I had captured and trained several Pokémon, but not for the sake of battle. I train Pokémon to better themselves. I have taught the Jigglypuff how to sing to an adoring crowd that can remain awake, while singing an opponent to dreamland. I have resuced Pokémon from abusers and they have decided to stay with me. Because I do not participate in Pokébattles as a rule, I can keep more than 6 Pokémon with me at a time.
I have abilities in the Force, but I have never had formal training. I have had to train myself mostly, but I learn form everyone and everything. I have always maintained a high curiosity which sometimes to get the better of me. The Jedi Council has often seen my abilites and have been awed, but they have also cringed. They have begged me to officially join them several times and each time I have declined. They have wanted to teach me, and they have wanted me to teach them. I will not give up my freedom to be at their beck-and-call, but I will not refuse to help them or refuse help from them.
I have learned how to manipulate a natural and real environment, and I have learned how to manipulate a manufactured and virtual environment. I have entered the realms of a computer to rectify viruses and to place viruses. I have helped bring down a prison of a Matrix and have helped build a freedom of biotechnical networking.
While I have always had a clear sense of right and wrong, I am a rogue. I'm considered a freelance but I have allies and some affiliations. There are some groups I would never associate with, and there are some groups I have no choice but *to* associate with. I can walk the right side of the fence, and I can walk the left side of the fence. I can walk on top of the fence, and I can sit on the fence straddling both sides. I can build bridges and I can burn them. I can straddle fences and I can mend them. I can be above the system, under the system, running from the system, or enforcing the system. But I am always watching the system. Watching and waiting...to see what it will do next.
I now know that I was born in Galaxy Faraway to Jedi Knights. My parents were good people who were members of an elite squadron known as the Dimension Jumpers. Their domains were their native galaxy and a small patch of space known as PokéSpace. They have long helped maintain a strong and secure relationship and open protal between these 2 space dimensions. They are some of the few Jedi Knights who know of the PokéJedi, a great intergalactic secret.
But they themselevs are also a great galactic secret. They are members of the ancient order that spawned the Jedi Knights. As the Jedi Knights help safeguard and watch over the PokéJedi, my parents' ancient order also looks over the Jedi Knights, like unknown and unseen guardian angels. But there was something the ancient order knew that could severely threaten the Jedi Knights. And if the Jedi Order fell, so would the PokéJedi.
This information caused my parents to have to give me up. A PokéJedi acting on DJS orders hid me on its home planet, to keep me safe from the unknown forces. I do not know if my parents are still alive or not.
When I was ready, the Pokémon chose me to be a Master. When I was ready, I was chosen to be a Dimension Jumper. When I am ready, I will be chosen to learn of this ancient order, what their knowledge is of the unknown forces that forced my parents to hide me. And perhaps when I am ready, I will be united with them.
Until then, I train and I learn. I do my job and I wait.
Alice was accepted and sent to train with a group of 12 various Sailor Saturns. She learned quite a lot about herself while in the Sailor Division...

»So what are we doing here?
Well basically the non-SW (Sith War) storyline follows Alice and her Pokémon from Alice's earliest memories as a 4-year-old and all the way thru her trials and tribulations with the Dimension Jumper Squad (DJS) in a very roundabout way of finding Alice's parents and discovering who she is. If you read/participate in the RASSM Sith Wars, alt.fan.jigglypuff, or at least just read them, then you already have some idea as to who the main personalities are.
It's all not exactly novel material altho having a trout-shaped pillow in the trunk of your 5-seated Delorean as your ever-present "Big Brother" guardian certainly is novel.
<Artie:>"It's stuffy in that trunk." <Smoked Oyster:>"You're pretty stuffed up yourself sometimes."
Anyway, because there's no real order to this whole escapade (yet), I'm just throwing everything (ok some of it- I wouldn't publish some of the stuff I've already written especially as it contains spoilers) here in the off-chance that I might actually take some of it and compile it later on into some sort of coherent story. It's a bit weird and complex, but don't worry, you won't be needing a Tolkien-sized encyclopedia or anything to wade thru it.
I'll probably be writting either as a brief narrative or a sort of diary point-of-view from Alice's pov until I can better flesh it out. Or maybe hodge-podge is the way it's supposed to stay. Yeah, bits and pieces for you to figure out eh? ;-)
<"don't make it too shredded or they'll give up and go away" -ed.>
Anyway, I guess I'd better stop with the intros and just shut up and write, right?
<"no, it'd be better if you'd just SHUT UP!!!" -ed.>
Excuse me a moment, I have to go lock -ed. in the bathroom again...

»First Post, Intro, Welcome, "testing 1...2...3", whatever...
Ok so I've finally relented. While putting together my characters for my Sith War participation, there was this whole huge background world (apart from RASSM) that went with it. I've always been meaning to write a fanfic series based on them, but for some reason it hasn't yet come about. I *do* however, keep coming up with little snippets and sketches and other stuff that happens with friends in emails and in non-SW posts.
So I figured it's high-time I give the group a blog so that #1- they'll shut up cuz they've been pestering me for a long time about this...I'm talking the Pokémon here, #2- I can't always open up a brand new file just to have to give the dern thing a name and be unable to do so because it's incomplete, and #3- I've already got at least 18 months worth of material.
I may or may not be linking to some of the non-SW stuff here (same goes for the emails), but I'll definately try to better flesh out some of the characters and situations here. The best way to do it would be to make this a team blog and give everyone their own entry capabilities but since there's only 1 email here, that's kinda impossible ya know?
Anyway, this is mainly a test/intro post. So let the insanity begin!
<Seanpuff, Ianpuff, Hamillpuff, Ewanpuff, Hot ROddish, PeterPika, Jedichu, and Wiggly-tough all wave "Hi!">
<sigs and .sigerette tree wave and try to conspire with the blugs to eat some code>
<Headless Horseman, Artie, and the Smoking Oyster send their greetings and wonder if a comments box will go up so DG can stop by>
<"you guys are SO pathetic" -ed.>
Oh yeah, and please don't mind -ed.
<"HEY!!!" -ed.>
And expect updates to existing posts often altho I may not always tell you when the new updates are. :-)
All of the obvious concepts, characters, and ideas are copyright their original owners, but all of the *new* stuff here (and reflected elsewhere) are copyright Rainbow Heron. These are my characters and the only other people authorized to use them are my fellow Sith Warriors. These characters were originally created for these Sith Wars and for my own amusement. No infringements or insults inteanded as this is all in penniless fun. If I find you using my stuff without my permission, I'll send the PokéScotties to personally curl your butt and brain around some very nasty arena until you've learned your lesson. Thank you.
